Program Overview: 

The 4th Alps-Adriatic Inverse Problems Workshop will be held at the Department of Mathematics of the Alpen-Adria-Universitaet Klagenfurt during October 2-3, 2025.

The aim of this workshop is to gather scientists working on the theory and applications of inverse problems in academia and industry, in order to present their research, exchange ideas, and start new collaborations. Scientists at an early stage of the career (PhD students, postdocs) are particularly encouraged to participate.

Participants might also take the opportunity to attend the preceding European Conference on Computational Optimization 2025 (EUCCO 2025) (September 29 - October 1, 2025).

The workshop will be held in person.

  • For the registration, an account is first required to proceed with the registration. Please click on this link for creating the Indico account. 
  • In the registration form you are asked to distinguish between an „invoice for private person“ (e.g. you get a refund of the costs of your university or company) or „invoice in case your institution / company pays directly the fee“. For companies within the European Union, a VAT number is also necessary.

Venue:

The workshop takes place in lecture room  HS O.0.01 (Stiftungssaal, Servicegebäude, see https://campusplan.aau.at?poi-id=556&floor=0at the Alpen-Adria-Universitaet Klagenfurt, Austria, which is located at the beautiful lake Woerthersee. 

For accomodation In walking distance to the University we recommend Pension Wachau,  Youth Hostel,  Seepark HotelHotel PlattenwirtHotel Roesch , Hotel Weidenhof and Hotel Dermuth (map). Further possibilities can be found through Klagenfurt Tourismus.

Even though the university campus is not in the city center, there are reasonable bus connections from the city center, see timetables or via Klagenfurt App (online). The prices for different forms of tickets can be found here. An alternative is to go by bike, for bike rentals check nextbike, also some of the hotels offer bikes to rent.

Conference dinner: details will be announced later.

 

Lunch

For lunch there are several places to eat on campus, see map.

The weekly menu can be seen here: Mensa, Uniwirt, Uni Pizzeria, Burger BoutiqueBits&Bytes, Hotspot and several other places. At the campus area you also find the bakery "Wienerroither".

Travelling to Klagenfurt:

Klagenfurt airport has direct flights from/to Cologne (eurowings, not daily!) and Vienna (Austrian Airlines).

You may also consider arriving at one of the neighboring airports, preferable Ljubljana or Graz but also Triest, Venice Marco Polo, Treviso.

From Klagenfurt Airport to the University:

Klagenfurt airport is not very well connected by public transport and you can take bus line 4. Get off at Heiligengeistplatz and change to bus line C (direction University) or line 8 (direction University), then you get off at Universität. 

From the train main station to University, you can take bus line C.

The bus ticket costs 2,50 Euros and can be bought on the bus (cash only). You also have the possibility for a 24-hours-ticket (EUR 6,00), a 72-hours-ticket (EUR 13,00) or a 7-day-ticket (EUR 18,-) (overview prices please see webpage Stadtwerke Mobilität ). If you buy a ticket via Klagenfurt App (online), it is cheaper. A taxi from the airport costs around 30 Euros.

Shared shuttles from neighbouring airports:

Check out GoOpti for a transfer from the neighbouring airports to your hotel in Klagenfurt. Arriving at Ljubljana airport you can take a shuttle, e. g. shuttledirect or check checkmybus .

Public transport from neighbouring airports:
